"Not in our backyard." Opposition to AI data centers is growing fierce across the United States. Once welcomed with open arms, public opinion polls now show that data centers are disliked even more than nuclear power plants.

As New York State and regions across the U.S. ban the construction of new data centers or scrap existing plans, data centers are also emerging as a key issue in the upcoming November midterm elections.

U.S. President Trump is pushing forward, warning that failing to build data centers will lead to poverty and only benefit China.
