Actors Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee will host the Buil Film Awards for the second consecutive year.
The two actors have been confirmed as the co-hosts for the 35th Buil Film Awards, which will be held on Wednesday, October 7, leading the ceremony once again following last year. Having first worked together in the 2017 film "One Day", Kim and Chun reunited as co-hosts at the 34th Buil Film Awards last year, showcasing fantastic chemistry. The two actors have been chosen once again as hosts for this year's Buil Film Awards to take the microphone side by side.
Meanwhile, launched in 1958 as South Korea's first film awards ceremony and marking its 35th edition this year, the Buil Film Awards is heralding fierce competition with prominent works and filmmakers nominated in major categories.
Director Park Chan-wook's "No Other Choice" became the most-nominated film, securing nods in a total of 9 categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress. Director Na Hong-jin's "Hope" followed with 8 categories, while Director Yoon Ga-eun's "The Master of the World" and Director Jang Hang-jun's "The King and the Man" were nominated in 6 categories each.
In particular, Park Ji-hoon of "The King and the Man", which has drawn attention as this year's top box-office hit, has emerged as another key point of interest for the ceremony by challenging for three crowns after being nominated for Best Actor, Best New Actor, and the Star of the Year Award. Whether last year's winners can secure consecutive victories is also drawing attention.
Lee Byung-hun, who won Best Actor at the 34th Buil Film Awards for the film "The Match", and cinematographer Hong Kyung-pyo, who won the Cinematography Award for "Harbin", are challenging for wins for the second consecutive year after being nominated again this year for "No Other Choice" and "Hope", respectively. Yeom Hye-ran has also been simultaneously nominated for Best Actress for "My Name Is" and Best Supporting Actress for "No Other Choice", drawing interest in the award results.
Hosted by Kim Nam-gil and Chun Woo-hee, the 2026 35th Buil Film Awards will be held on Wednesday, October 7, at 4:30 PM KST at the Signiel Busan Grand Ballroom in Haeundae-gu, Busan, on its largest scale ever. Starting with the red carpet and backstage interviews, the main ceremony and the Star of the Year award winner open talk will follow, and the entire process will be broadcast live exclusively via Naver CHZZK.
