This is the Wirye Complex Sports Center, which opened on August 10th last year.
Built with a total investment of 44.3 billion won, the center spans a total floor area of 8,700 square meters, featuring two floors underground and four floors above ground.
The first floor houses a swimming pool capable of accommodating up to 1,900 people a day, while the third floor features an indoor gymnasium for futsal, basketball, and badminton.
The opening of the sports center has greatly eased the thirst of Wirye residents, who had suffered significant inconvenience due to the previous lack of public sports facilities.
[Do Jong-suk / Wirye New Town, Hanam]: "The other places were too far away, so I didn't even dare to go. I searched everywhere in Wirye New Town, but there was no adult swimming pool. Anyway, it was inconvenient, very inconvenient."
In addition, the sports center is designed so that residents can use various services in a single space, ranging from childcare and leisure to physical activities.
A communal childcare center and a public-style kids' café are scheduled to begin operations later this month.
[Jang Ye-eun / Wirye New Town, Hanam]: "There were no kids' cafés around, and nowhere for the children to play nearby, so it's so convenient and great to have one open right close by."
[Lee Hyun-hee / Mayor of Hanam]: "11 years after the development of Hanam Wirye New Town, by opening our complex lifestyle sports center, our Wirye Hanam citizens can now enjoy sports as well. In that regard, we warmly welcome it."
The city of Hanam evaluates that with the opening of this sports center, it has completed the establishment of a public sports and cultural infrastructure connecting the city's five major districts.
