A landslide occurred in Mogok-ri, Seo-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon Province, at 7:49 a.m. today (the 4th).
Upon receiving a report stating that "the sound of falling rocks from the mountain continues," firefighting authorities, the police, and Hongcheon County deployed 10 pieces of equipment and 22 personnel to control the site and take safety measures.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
While there was no damage to private residences, one warehouse used for storing agricultural machinery was buried.
According to police and other authorities, approaching the site remains difficult as rocks continue to fall.
In response, 16 nearby residents were evacuated to a village hall to prepare for the possibility of additional large-scale landslides.
Authorities have also set up safety control lines at the scene and are assessing the situation from a safe distance.
It was confirmed that no separate construction work or solar power facilities were located near the site of the landslide.
According to the Gangwon Regional Meteorological Administration, 45.8 mm of rain fell over three days from August 31 to September 2.
Relevant agencies plan to conduct emergency restoration work while investigating the exact scale of the damage and the cause of the landslide, keeping in mind the possibility that the ground was weakened by recent rainfall.
