The Korea Football Association (KFA) has decided to have its Fairness Commission handle the recent incident involving an inappropriate remark made by a referee toward Ji So-yun (Suwon FC Women) during a women's WK League match.
The KFA Amateur Referee Evaluation Committee held a meeting at the Korea Football Park in Cheonan today (the 3rd) and, considering the gravity of the matter, referred it to the Fairness Commission based on referee regulations.
The issue came to light when Ji So-yun raised a problem, stating that she heard an inappropriate remark from the referee during the 22nd round of the 2026 WK League match between Suwon FC Women and Seoul City Hall held on the 28th of last month.
At the time, the referee explained, "The remark in question was not directed at a specific player and was a conversation between referees."
The KFA decided to formulate measures to prevent the recurrence of similar cases and strengthen education to foster a culture of mutual respect among all participants in the WK League, including players and referees.
