South Korean national football team forward Hwang Hee-chan has returned to the Bundesliga after five years, transferring to German club Schalke on the summer transfer deadline day. Upon joining Schalke, Hwang was assigned the number 7 jersey.
After joining Wolverhampton in 2021 and playing in the Premier League, Hwang pursued a transfer after his team was relegated last season.
Following deep deliberation until just before the deadline, he chose Schalke as his destination after the manager sent him proactive love calls.
The agreement is in the form of a one-year loan, and it is known to include an option for a permanent transfer next summer for about 4.8 billion won.
Hwang headed straight to Schalke via a private jet, underwent a medical test, and was filled with anticipation as he toured his new home stadium.
He received the number 7 jersey, which symbolizes the team's ace.
