As the Hometown Love Donation Program—introduced to respond to the crisis of regional extinction and foster balanced regional development—marks its fourth year, the Korea Association of Certified Public Tax Accountants (KACPTA) is entering full swing to expand and establish the program by signing individual business agreements with all 243 metropolitan and local governments nationwide.
The association announced that to spread hometown love donations to local communities this year, its 7 regional chapters and 132 local district chapters will establish one-on-one cooperative systems by signing agreements with each of the 243 local governments.
Beginning with these business agreements, local tax accountants plan to roll out community-centric promotional activities starting this month. These include promoting tax-saving benefits during closing periods for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners, as well as year-end tax settlements for workers at client companies, while also working alongside local governments to publicize region-specific designated donation projects and return gifts.
On August 21 last year, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety also forwarded an official document titled "Guidance on Cooperation with Local Tax Accountant Associations to Promote the Hometown Love Donation Program" to metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide, attaching the business agreement implementation plan submitted by the KACPTA.
To help members in the field promote the program more easily than last year and encourage participation from client companies and workers, the tax accountants association has also promptly created and distributed a promotional webpage titled "Hometown Love Donation Program.zip" to its 18,000 members nationwide starting this month, launching a full-scale public promotional campaign.
In particular, timed with the Chuseok holiday, the association plans to significantly bolster promotions in everyday public settings, such as actively publicizing the Hometown Love Donation Program to local communities during the "Village Tax Accountant Tax Consultation and Market Shopping Visiting Traditional Markets for Chuseok" events.
Koo Jae-yi, Chairman of the Korea Association of Certified Public Tax Accountants, emphasized, "If local governments nationwide, along with regional and local tax accountant associations, join hands to systematically carry out donation attraction and promotional activities to overcome the deepening crisis of regional extinction and drive local economic revitalization, and if we unfold region-tailored donation attraction and promotion activities in earnest, this year will become a milestone year that achieves a new era for the Hometown Love Donation Program."
Previously, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the tax accountants association signed a "Business Agreement to Promote the Hometown Love Donation Program" last year, enabling all 18,000 tax accountants nationwide to actively serve as "PR Ambassadors for the Hometown Love Donation Program."
As a result, by directly promoting the significance and tax-saving benefits of the Hometown Love Donation Program to SMEs, small business owners, and executives and employees of client companies, they achieved a record-high fundraising amount of 151.5 billion won last year—marking a surge of approximately 70% compared to the previous year.
