▲ Eco-friendly produce baskets for expectant mothers
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced today (the 2nd) that it will increase the number of essential service items to strengthen the quality of the eco-friendly agricultural produce basket program for expectant mothers.
The eco-friendly agricultural produce basket program for expectant mothers is designed to provide healthy food options for expectant mothers and secure a stable demand for eco-friendly agricultural products, with full-scale supply having begun on July 20.
During a produce selection committee meeting held on the 27th of last month, the ministry expanded the number of essential supply items from 55 to 67 by adding walnuts, broccoli, and perilla leaves, which are highly preferred by expectant mothers.
To enhance user convenience, a representative customer service channel will also be opened on Eco-e Mall, the program's dedicated online system.
Previously, inquiries regarding basket products had to be made individually to each supplier, but customers will now be able to submit complaints and inquiries through a single centralized channel.
The representative customer service channel is scheduled to begin operations starting in October following system maintenance.
Additionally, starting this month, the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service and local governments will conduct joint on-site inspections targeting all 29 suppliers.
The inspections will verify compliance with eco-friendly agricultural product handler certification standards and supplier obligations, with plans to take measures such as contract termination for violators depending on the severity of the case.
Monthly business review meetings involving local governments, suppliers, and the Korea Federation of Sustainable Agriculture will also be held to monitor customer service responses, supply status by item, and price trends.
An official from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs stated, "We will continue user-centric communication and on-site management so that expectant mothers can use the service with peace of mind and satisfaction."
