Police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor have launched a joint coercive investigation into the Coupang logistics center in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, where a worker was injured in a forklift crushing accident.
The Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency announced that it dispatched 13 investigators to the Coupang logistics center in Gwangju starting at 9:00 a.m. today (the 2nd) to conduct a joint search and seizure with the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Fifteen labor inspectors and other personnel from the Ministry of Employment and Labor were also deployed to the scene.
The labor ministry explained, "By securing computers and other items from related personnel, we will closely examine whether the employer fulfilled safety measure obligations to prevent crushing accidents among victims during work involving the use of stand-up forklifts."
On August 23, a man in his 40s was transferred to a hospital in a state of cardiac arrest after getting trapped between a forklift and a structure while operating the vehicle at the logistics center.
The man has reportedly not yet regained consciousness.
