People Power Party Leader Jang Dong-hyeok fiercely criticized the government, calling it a "regime that treats citizens like lab rats," following the Cabinet's approval of a revised real estate tax reform plan.
This afternoon, Leader Jang wrote on his social media, "It seems President Lee Jae-myung got a bit scared as public backlash erupted."
Sarcastic about the decision to restore the basic comprehensive real estate holding tax deduction to 1.2 billion won for single-home owners who do not reside in their properties, Jang remarked, "The tax bomb has merely gone from a hydrogen bomb to an atomic bomb level."
He added, "They pushed ahead with reducing the long-term holding special deduction as it was, showing they have no intention of fixing the 'tax bomb' itself."
"Government policies change by the morning and evening, making them hard to trust now," Jang criticized, calling the administration a "regime that treats citizens like lab rats."
He went on to point out, "Dividing single-home owners into 'resident' and 'non-resident' was wrong to begin with," adding, "Why should the government decide whether or not I live in my own home? That mindset itself is communist-style."
Jang further claimed, "Ultimately, President Lee Jae-myung's final goal is 'stripping citizens of their right to housing,'" and argued, "They are taking away people's homes through high interest rates and tax bombs, forcing them to live in public rental housing distributed by the government."
