Heavy Rain Advisories Issued for North Gyeongsang and South Chungcheong; Caution Advised

Strong and heavy rain has pounded the southern regions due to the influence of a stationary front.

Earlier this dawn (August 31), an extreme downpour reaching up to 107mm per hour lashed Nakwol-do in Yeonggwang, and rain clouds are currently passing over the central regions and northern North Gyeongsang Province.

Heavy rain advisories are currently in effect for northwestern North Gyeongsang and the west coast of South Chungcheong, with intense rain falling at rates of 30mm per hour in areas such as Yecheon and Uiseong.

This round of rain is expected to continue until tonight in the southern regions, and until tomorrow morning in the greater Seoul area and Gangwon Province.

Looking ahead, heavy rainfall of up to over 150mm is forecast for the west coast of South Chungcheong, and up to over 120mm for northwestern North Buan (North Jeolla).

Please exercise caution against safety accidents.

Even after the rain stops tomorrow, sporadic showers may pass through the southern regions in the afternoon.

Tomorrow's morning lows will start at 22°C (72°F) in Seoul, and while daytime temperatures will not be exceptionally high at 17°C (63°F), it will feel rather muggy due to high humidity.
