Go Woo-suk, 28, who is continuing his challenge in Major League Baseball (MLB), went unclaimed by other clubs and has been outrighted to the minor leagues under the Minnesota Twins.
The Minnesota club announced today (the 31st) that Go cleared waivers and was assigned to their Triple-A affiliate, the St. Paul Saints.
On the 29th, Minnesota designated Go for assignment (DFA) to add outfielder Walker Jenkins to their 40-man roster.
Although Go was subsequently placed on waivers, none of the other 29 MLB teams besides Minnesota expressed an intention to acquire him.
As a result, Go has been removed from Minnesota's 40-man roster but was not released, remaining with St. Paul for now.
Go made his long-awaited debut on the big league stage after being traded from the Detroit Tigers to Minnesota last month.
However, he was sent down to Triple-A after recording one hold and a 9.00 ERA in four appearances.
He also struggled with St. Paul, posting a 2-1 record with a 12.54 ERA in eight games.
On July 25, he received a 10-game suspension after a foreign substance was found in his glove just before taking the mound.
That suspension was reduced to eight games following an appeal.
