The United States has launched a new space telescope featuring a field of view 100 times wider than the Hubble Space Telescope and observation capabilities more than 1,000 times faster.

A rocket carrying the United States' newest space telescope blasts off into space.
NASA announced that it launched the new space observation facility, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket at 7:26 a.m. Eastern Time on the 30th.
As the third NASA space telescope, the Roman telescope has a field of view 100 times broader than space telescopes currently in use by humanity.
It is also equipped with observation capabilities more than 1,000 times faster than the Hubble Space Telescope, America's first space telescope.
An observation that would have taken Hubble 100 years can be completed in just a month.

The Roman telescope entered orbit 10 minutes after launch.
It has embarked on a journey lasting about three months toward its target destination, Lagrange Point 2, located 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth.
The first captured images are scheduled to be transmitted to Earth early next year.
Through the Roman telescope, NASA expects to secure new data related to dark matter and dark energy, which will help solve the mysteries of cosmic expansion.
Developing the Roman telescope took 10 years, with development costs totaling approximately 4.3 billion dollars, or about 5.9 trillion won in South Korean currency.
In particular, this launch was brought forward by a few months, drawing assessments that the United States has quickly demonstrated new achievements to counter China's space rise.
U.S. President Donald Trump made a phone call during a NASA press conference to deliver a congratulatory message, and wrote on social media, "This is the golden age of America."
