Prime Minister Han made the remarks during a congratulatory speech at the ceremony for the "UNESCO Anniversary Year for the 150th Birth Anniversary of Baekbeom Kim Gu," held at the Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Hall this afternoon.
"Reading Baekbeom Kim Gu's words, 'What I desire above all else is a high culture,' I was moved by how such thoughts were possible at that time," Prime Minister Han said. "That dream is becoming a reality in today's Republic of Korea."
She continued, "The power of culture that the teacher so deeply desired has now gone beyond the Republic of Korea to connect the hearts of people around the world," emphasizing, "This is the era of K-culture, of which we are so proud."
Regarding UNESCO's official designation of the 150th birth anniversary of Baekbeom as a "UNESCO Anniversary Year," Prime Minister Han added, "This is truly meaningful and proud for all our citizens. I express my deepest gratitude and respect to those who have worked hard for this."
