A deliveryman in his 20s who revisited the home of a woman he had previously delivered to about a month prior, broke in, and attempted to sexual assault her has been transferred to prosecutors in custody.
He went back to the residence after figuring out during a previous delivery that the victim lived alone.
The Seoul Mapo Police Station announced that it forwarded the suspect in his 20s, surnamed A, to prosecutors on the 11th on charges of attempted rape by house trespassing.
A is accused of breaking into the home of a woman in her 20s of Vietnamese nationality, surnamed B, located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, on the 2nd and attempting to sexually assault her.
It was found that A, who worked as a deliveryman, had delivered food to B's home about a month before the crime.
Investigations revealed that A later realized B lived alone and returned to her home, entering through an open door left open due to the hot weather, and attempted to sexually assault B.
However, acquaintances of B were inside the house at the time and immediately reported the incident to the police, leaving the crime incomplete as an attempted offense.
Police tracked A's movements using nearby CCTV footage and emergency arrested him on the 6th.
The court held a pre-trial detention hearing for A on the 8th and issued an arrest warrant.
