Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok stated, "To open a golden era for democracy, popular sovereignty, and the Republic of Korea, I will operate the party with the determination and resolve that every single Democratic lawmaker will act as a primary agent in resolving our tasks."
Leader Kim made the remarks while presiding over a Supreme Council meeting at the Incheon Inspire Hotel, where a lawmakers' workshop in preparation for the regular session of the National Assembly was being held.
"This workshop was a pledge to overcome internal and external crises through a 'people's livelihood-first approach' at a desperate turning point heading toward a K-golden era," Kim emphasized, adding, "Starting today, we will enter a total-war posture where all lawmakers sprint at full throttle, while the party thoroughly supports and flawlessly monitors them."
Regarding the Bank of Korea's Monetary Policy Board raising the benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to 3.00%, Kim noted, "I believe this decision was made after comprehensively considering various conditions such as inflation, household debt, and exchange rates."
He went on to emphasize, "Without lowering our guard, the party will closely monitor market and livelihood conditions, ensuring in particular that the rate hike does not lead to an excessive repayment burden for vulnerable financial groups, and we will formulate countermeasures if necessary."
