YouTuber Park Wi, who faced severe backlash over his decision to release a video of his fall accident on a KTX train, has expressed his intention to voluntarily step down from his position as a promotional ambassador for the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced yesterday (the 27th) that Park conveyed his decision to resign as its PR ambassador.
Park was appointed as a PR ambassador for Seoul in June of last year alongside his wife, Song Ji-eun.
His two-year term was set to run until June of next year, but he reportedly felt burdened to continue his ambassadorial activities following the recent controversy.
Last week, Park uploaded a video to his YouTube channel capturing an accident where he fell while getting off a KTX train, drawing criticism for publicizing the mistake of a social service agent who had already apologized.
The fallout continued as scheduled lectures were canceled, and civil complaints were reportedly filed asking the city to review whether it was appropriate for him to continue serving as a Seoul PR ambassador.
