South Korean football's 20-year-old prospect Kim Min-su has left Spain's second-division club Girona to join the Scottish powerhouse Rangers.
Rangers announced via their official website yesterday that they have signed Kim to a four-year contract with an option for an additional year.
His shirt number is 10.
According to local media, the transfer fee paid to Girona is 10 million euros (approx. 16 billion won), which corresponds to his buyout clause.
This marks the second-highest transfer fee in Rangers history.
Kim is an attacking resource whose primary position is winger, and he is also capable of playing as a striker.
Having joined the youth academy of Girona, then in Spain's La Liga, in the summer of 2022, Kim made his debut for the B team in October of that year and steadily established himself as a key player for the team.
While building his adaptability to the European stage with Girona's B team competing in Spain's fifth tier, Kim struggled to break into the first team due to La Liga regulations limiting clubs to registering a maximum of three non-European Union players in their first-team matchday squads.
Last season, he was loaned to Andorra in La Liga 2 (second division), where he made an impressive impact by playing 40 matches and recording 6 goals and 4 assists.
After returning to Girona, which was relegated to La Liga 2 for this season, he started in both of the team's opening league matches.
Rangers manager Derek McInnes expressed high expectations, stating, "Kim is equipped with exceptional talent, technique, and strong energy. Above all, he has a strong desire to improve."
Kim shared his determination, saying, "I am thrilled to join Rangers. I will help the team improve. Moreover, I will give everything I can to secure victory in every match."
