The film "The Journey to Gyeongju" has started its box office run at No. 3.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticket computer network on the 27th, "The Journey to Gyeongju" attracted 36,796 viewers nationwide on its opening day on the 26th, placing it third at the box office.
As "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" have dominated theaters for about a month, "The Journey to Gyeongju" drew the highest number of viewers among Korean films upon its release, but fell short of surpassing the two major blockbusters.
"The Odyssey" defended its No. 1 spot at the box office for four consecutive weeks, surpassing 7.65 million cumulative viewers. It is continuing to show remarkable strength by drawing 190,000 viewers even on weekdays in its fourth week. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," entering its fifth week of release, has seen its momentum slow down, but is still showing late-stage stamina by attracting over 40,000 viewers. Its cumulative audience has surpassed 8.26 million.
"The Journey to Gyeongju" is a family revenge drama about four mothers and daughters who embark on a "to-die-for" trip after waiting eight years for Gyeongju, their youngest daughter who never returned from a school trip. It stars Lee Jung-eun, Kong Hyo-jin, Park So-dam, and Lee Yeon, with a special appearance by Byun Yohan.
