DP Lawmaker Kim Young-jin: "Those Who Introduced Leverage Products Must Take Responsibility... We Can't Just Let It Slide"

Regarding the single-stock leveraged ETF issue pointed to as one of the causes for President Lee Jae-myung's declining approval ratings, Democratic Party Representative Kim Young-jin stated today (the 27th), "Those who introduced it were much too shortsighted, and introducing it in an unprepared state delivered a massive shock to market participants."

Representative Kim, a core loyalist of the pro-Lee Jae-myung faction, appeared on MBC Radio's "Kim Jong-bae's Focus" today. When asked if the related officials should step down from their positions, he responded, "We need to make broad judgments and decisions starting from things like that, and it is not appropriate to just let it pass. A certain level of responsibility is necessary," making the remarks above.

When asked about the possibility of officials linked to the introduction of single-stock leveraged ETF being included in a cabinet reshuffle, he said, "Matters concerning personnel appointments are up to the president's authority, but it is necessary to carefully judge various public sentiment situations and details and ponder matters regarding cabinet reshuffles and appointments."

Regarding real estate issues, Representative Kim also noted, "Tax policies should have been formulated in a complementary manner after dramatically expanding housing supply policies. However, because tax policies were rolled out first without supply policies, the backlash was considerable."

At the same time, concerning ways to raise President Lee's approval ratings, he pointed out, "Because approval ratings only rise when citizens feel that their lives have improved as a result of the policies of the Democratic Party and the Lee Jae-myung administration, a rebound in ratings is not easy through temporary events."

Meanwhile, Supreme Council Member Park Sun-won of the Democratic Party, another pro-Lee faction figure, said today on SBS Radio's "Kim Taehyun's Political Show" regarding the decline in President Lee's approval ratings, "There are livelihood and security issues involving the police and others, and these factors are intertwined, creating an atmosphere where public sentiment is amplified. We are viewing this very seriously and gravely."
