U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that all mines located within the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz have been removed. Meanwhile, Russian media reports have emerged claiming that the United States and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire.

This is a message posted on social media by U.S. President Donald Trump on the 25th, U.S. time.
He stated, "I have just received a report from the U.S. Navy that all mines within the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz have been removed and detonated," adding, "We have notified Iran that any vessels laying new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed."
This appears to be an effort to emphasize control and influence over the Strait of Hormuz as economic sanctions against Iran are underway.
Amid these developments, Russia's state-run RIA Novosti news agency, citing Pakistani military sources and others, reported that the United States and Iran have reached a ceasefire agreement.
The agency reported that the ceasefire agreement will be officially announced within days, though specific terms of the agreement and the credibility of the sources have not been verified.
In connection with this, Iran and Oman issued a joint statement to pursue the phased resumption of safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The two countries agreed to establish a joint temporary shipping route within a framework of consultations and to pursue a joint project to clear mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Iran has once again sent mixed messages to the United States.
Iran's state-run broadcaster IRIB broadcast content threatening to assassinate Barron Trump, the youngest son of U.S. President Donald Trump.
CNN reported that "this is the first public threat against Barron," and the U.S. Secret Service stated, "We are aware of the footage and are investigating all matters."
On the other hand, Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency cited a "reliable source" to report that Iran wishes to return to the framework of the memorandum of understanding it previously reached with the United States in June.
As an atmosphere of easing tensions between the U.S. and Iran took shape, international oil prices extended their decline for a second consecutive day.
