The funeral service for Monk Myeongjin, who passed away on the 22nd, was solemnly held today (the 25th) at Bongeunsa Temple in Seoul as a joint religious and civil society funeral.
Organized jointly by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism and civil society, the funeral was attended by figures and followers from the Buddhist community, as well as representatives from the arts, culture, and civil sectors, who bid their final farewells to the monk.
Monk Myeongjin served as the abbot of Bongeunsa Temple and took the lead in promoting reforms within the Buddhist order and engaging in social activism.
