Typhoon Maysak, the 10th typhoon of the season that struck southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region last month, has left 159 people dead and 10 missing, China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported today (August 21).
The cities of Nanning and Guigang in Guangxi held meetings today on typhoon disaster recovery and reconstruction to announce the extent of the damage.
As of midnight today, more than 1.65 million people were affected by the typhoon in the two cities, with 159 people dead and 10 missing, according to the tally.
Nanning and Guigang have concluded emergency response operations and entered the stage of comprehensive recovery and reconstruction.
Xinhua reported that the Guangxi region suffered severe and consecutive damage as Typhoon Maysak brought prolonged and record-breaking torrential rains to wide areas early last month.
