Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok announced today (August 20) that he has instructed the party to hang banners nationwide bearing the message, "Cho Hee-dae, who destroyed the rule of law, must step down."
Speaking to reporters after paying respects at the grave of former Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan in Sejong City this morning, Kim stated, "This is the first instruction I gave after appointing Kim Nam-jun as the head of the Public Relations Committee."
At a Supreme Council meeting held in Busan the previous day, Kim strongly criticized Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae for submitting a written recommendation to President Lee Jae-myung for the appointment of a Supreme Court justice candidate.
During the meeting, Kim urged Chief Justice Cho to voluntarily resign, stating, "Cho Hee-dae, the worst Chief Justice since liberation, must step down."
Along with the banners criticizing Chief Justice Cho, Kim also ordered nationwide banners carrying the phrase, "We will open a golden era of democracy."
This public relations initiative is tied to his remarks after visiting the gravesite, where he said, "I will succeed the lineage of the late former Prime Minister Lee, who was a strategist and 'board maker,'" adding, "I will look toward a 20- or 30-year golden era for the Democratic Party and set the stage for consecutive terms in power."
On Facebook, Kim also wrote, "I am asking PR Committee Chief Kim to initiate a comprehensive review of all aspects related to the Democratic Party's public relations and brand."
"We must begin a complete innovation, ranging from the party's major brand concepts to the appearance of meetings and the attire of its members," he emphasized, adding, "From now on, all party news should start with early morning broadcasts via Minjoo Party TV."
The previous day, Kim appointed Han Woong-hyun, former head of the Democratic Party's Public Relations Committee, as the head of the task force (TF) for preparing "Minjoo Party TV."
According to the Democratic Party, the plan is to launch "Minjoo Party TV" as a new channel to promptly deliver information to citizens and party members, alongside the party's existing YouTube channel, "Delisori Minjoo."
