A man in his 60s who went missing while hiking on Mount Cheonmasan in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, has been found dead.

According to fire authorities and the police yesterday (August 20), a report was received at around 7:20 a.m. the day before yesterday in Mukhyeon-ri, Hwado-eup, Namyangju, stating, "He has not returned past his usual return time and cannot be reached."

Authorities initiating a search found the vehicle of a man in his 60s, identified as A, in the Mount Cheonmasan parking lot. They then conducted a search centered around the direction of the summit, discovering A dead below a cliff at around noon.

It was reported that due to the rugged terrain, police used a helicopter to retrieve A's body and hand it over to the bereaved family.

According to the police, A usually hiked Mount Cheonmasan every day and had left his house early that morning, sending a photo taken at the summit of Mount Cheonmasan to his family.

The police believe that A slipped and fell while descending the mountain and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
