Taiwan, home to TSMC—the world's largest contract chipmaker—is currently buzzing with talk of paying out a "universal citizen bonus."
Driven by the AI boom, surging semiconductor performance has propelled Taiwan's economy into a steep growth trajectory.
In response, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te proposed sharing a portion of the increased tax revenues with the public, announcing that he would "pay out an AI cash bonus of 10,000 New Taiwan Dollars (approximately 440,000 KRW) per person."
Will every single citizen in Taiwan really end up receiving this "AI bonus"?
