Today (August 16), which is part of the Liberation Day long weekend, rain fell nationwide under the influence of a low-pressure system moving northeastward from the West Sea.

Heavy downpours of over 150 mm are expected in the southern coastal areas of Gyeongsangnam-do, over 100 mm in the eastern inland areas of Gyeongsangnam-do and mountainous areas of Jeju, and over 80 mm along the southern east coast of Gyeongsangbuk-do until tomorrow, while about 5 to 10 mm of rain is expected in Seoul.
Very intense rain of 20 to 50 mm per hour is expected to pour in the Yeongnam region until tomorrow morning, requiring special caution to prevent rain-related damage.
Rain in the Yeongnam and Jeju regions will continue until tomorrow night, while most of the rain in other areas is expected to let up by tomorrow morning.
Even after the rain stops, sudden and heavy showers may hit mainly the western regions.
Winds will blow strongly in the southern regions and Jeju tomorrow.
Waves will run high, particularly in maritime areas.
Tomorrow morning's temperatures will start at 24°C (75°F) in Seoul and 23°C (73°F) in Daegu, while daytime highs will reach 30°C (86°F) in Seoul and 28°C (82°F) in Daegu, similar to today.
Starting Wednesday, skies nationwide will clear up again.
