Prime Minister Han Sung-sook held a luncheon meeting with Kim Ho-cheol, Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI), today (the 14th) to discuss support measures for effectively protecting public officials who practice proactive administration.
Meeting with Chairman Kim at the Prime Minister's Seoul Official Residence today, Prime Minister Han noted that the BAI has actively responded to demands for prior consulting and established support measures such as the rapid response team.
She requested, "I hope you will continue to provide active support so that frontline public officials can fully leverage the intent of the protection system."
She also expressed her gratitude to the BAI Chairman regarding the agency's shift in audit direction toward prioritizing advance prevention, problem-solving, and presenting alternatives.
Chairman Kim stated, "For the shift in the audit paradigm to lead to enhanced public benefits, the active cooperation of the public service sector is most important," adding, "I hope the public service sector will also transform its perception of the BAI into a collaborative partner striving to solve problems together and communicate actively."
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Personnel Management Choi Dong-seok and Vice Minister of the Interior and Safety Kim Min-jae.
Prime Minister Han instructed Minister Choi and Vice Minister Kim, "As audit exemption through resolutions by the Proactive Administration Committee and the Regulatory Rationalization Committee has been newly introduced, please promote and encourage its practical utilization in the field across central and local governments."
Prime Minister Han promised, "I hope public officials can work with conviction without fear of audits," adding, "The Cabinet, including the Prime Minister, and the BAI will continue to cooperate so that proactive administration can firmly take root as a fundamental operational method in the public service sector."
