SBS "Match to Marry 2" wrapped up its run amidst much buzz, successfully producing a single final couple.
In the final episode of "Match to Marry 2" that aired on Thursday the 13th, the final choices of the single men and women, as well as their mothers, were revealed after a five-night, six-day retreat. With attention focused on the final choice of the most popular female participant, Choi Jung-yoon, and Kang Shin-woo's direct approach toward Kim Da-hye, the finale achieved a peak viewership rating of 3.3% (based on Nielsen Korea's metropolitan household ratings), bringing the show to a successful close.
During the broadcast, the most popular female participant, Choi Jung-yoon, chose announcer Lee In-kwon, who had consistently taken care of her. In the subsequent selection by the mothers, both Lee In-kwon's mother and Choi Jung-yoon's mother warmly opened their doors, finally creating the only final couple. Choi Jung-yoon's mother warmed hearts by blessing their meeting, saying, "I resolved to support my daughter while staying together at the retreat for five nights and six days."
On the other hand, oriental medicine doctor Kang Shin-woo actively pursued Kim Da-hye and her mother, even handing out his business card and saying, "I want to share our faith life together." Although he succeeded in winning Kim Da-hye's heart, he ultimately failed to achieve a final match due to opposition from Kim Da-hye's mother.
In addition, Samsung Electronics employee Ahn Do-yoon showed his young-generation direct charm to lawyer Kwon Ye-chan by saying, "Our combination is fine," but "Notebook Prince" Kwon Ye-chan gave up his choice after much deliberation, failing to form a couple. Pharmaceutical company employee Kim Dong-young, Yang Ha-yun, and Lee Kang-hyun also failed to become couples due to mixed feelings and giving up their final choices.
"Match to Marry 2," which gained love for its original format combining the realistic perspectives and choices of mothers with the blind dates of single men and women, showed off its powerful box office dominance by ranking first in Netflix's "Korea TOP 10 Series" variety category just one episode after its broadcast and maintaining the weekly TOP 10 for five consecutive weeks, successfully ending its run with its 8th episode.
