The Baejae High School baseball team, which received a one-month suspension for controversy surrounding derogatory remarks about the May 18 Democratization Movement, has returned to official competition after 45 days. They played their comeback match in a much more subdued atmosphere than before, stating they spent the time in profound self-reflection.

Baejae High School players appeared at Mokdong Baseball Stadium, where the Phoenix Flag High School Baseball Tournament is taking place.
This marks their first official tournament appearance since receiving a one-month suspension for derogatory cheering directed at Gwangju Jeil High School.

A notice prohibiting cheers that disparage opponents flashed across the electronic scoreboard, and Baejae High School players bowed 90 degrees toward the stands before the start of the game.

While passionate cheering from alumni and parents of both schools unfolded in the stands, the atmosphere in the dugout was starkly contrastive.
Enthusiastic cheers echoed from the opposing Incheon High School side, whereas in the Baejae High School dugout, even decisive plays were met only with quiet applause rather than loud shouts.
Baejae High School lost 8 to 5 to Incheon High School, wrapping up their final national tournament of the year, which they managed to participate in, after just a single game.
