President Lee Jae-myung will chair the Future Growth Engine, 7 SEEDS Briefing session under the slogan "The Future Opened by Advanced Technology" at the Blue House this afternoon (the 12th).
The 7 SEEDS refer to seven key advanced industrial fields that serve as seeds of innovation and core assets for the future economy and security: ▲ Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), ▲ Nuclear Fusion, ▲ Renewable Energy, ▲ Quantum, ▲ Aerospace, ▲ Advanced Biotechnology, and ▲ Advanced Materials, Parts, and Supply Chains.
During today's event, Professor Kim Seung-wan of the Korea Institute of Energy Technology andc-> (ergy Technology) will give a presentation on "Energy Technology and Supply Chains for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Great Transformation," while Professor Jang Jin-ah of Pohang University of Science and Technology will present on "Advanced Technologies Paving the Way for a Future Leap."
Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Kim Jeong-gwan will report on future policy directions under the title "Fostering an Advanced Supply Chain Ecosystem as the Foundation for Paving the Future."
Following this, an open discussion will be held on ways to secure advanced technologies and foster related industries.
Attendees of the briefing will include researchers from universities, research institutes, and corporations, science and engineering students, entrepreneurs, and government officials.
Government officials including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Bae Kyung-hoon, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong-gwan, Minister of Education Choi Kyo-jin, and Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment Kim Sung-hwan, along with Blue House aides such as Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik, Chief Policy Officer Kim Yong-beom, Senior Secretary for Economic Growth Ha Jun-kyung, Presidential Secretary for Fiscal Planning Ryu Deok-hyun, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs Kim Kyung-ja, and 3rd Deputy Director of the National Security Office Song Ki-ho, are also scheduled to be present.
Prior to attending the briefing, President Lee is scheduled to view exhibitions of advanced technology models, including an SMR ship, a quantum computer, and a lunar orbiter.
The Blue House stated, "This is an occasion to explore ways to secure advanced technologies and foster industries together with science and technology experts and business leaders to successfully support the AI great transformation and pave the way for a future leap," adding, "We also plan to discuss ways to strengthen the foundational strength of our nation's science and technology through fostering science and engineering talents and innovating the research ecosystem."
