Yang Min-hyuk (20), who joined Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL) but has yet to debut in an official first-team match, is on the verge of his fourth loan spell.
Global sports media outlet The Athletic reported today (KST) that Belgian Pro League (first division) side Westerlo has reached an agreement with Tottenham for a season-long loan of Yang, and that Yang has headed to Belgium to finalize the procedures.
The outlet reported that Yang's loan agreement does not include a permanent transfer option.
Yang drew significant attention when his transfer to Tottenham was announced during the 2024 K League 1 season, where he delivered stellar performances for Gangwon FC. After finishing that season, he joined Tottenham in December 2024.
However, instead of making his debut for Tottenham, he was loaned to Queens Park Rangers in the English Championship (second division) in January of last year, spending his first season on the European stage.
Ahead of the 2025–2026 season, he was loaned to Portsmouth in August of last year, and was re-loaned to Coventry City in January of this year.
Although Coventry won the Championship title last season and earned promotion to the EPL, Yang finished the season having made only 3 league appearances and 1 FA Cup appearance during his loan spell.
After returning from his loan to prepare for the new season, he appeared in Tottenham's pre-season matches, but it has now become likely that he will continue his career on loan this season.
Yang, who debuted for the senior national team last year and has played 2 A-matches, has been included in the final squad for the men's football team at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games to be held next month.
