With issues such as delayed refunds and lost contact surrounding the youth travel agency Andersen, the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center under the Korea National Council of Consumer Organizations announced on August 10 that it is issuing a consumer damage warning.
The counseling center stated that problems have persisted in which the agency delays refunds for months after travel contract cancellations, or repeatedly changes and fails to meet scheduled refund dates.
Since the beginning of August, cases have been reported where the business cuts off contact right before departures or unilaterally cancels trips.
Andersen announced on August 5 that it was suspending travel operations due to police and prosecution investigations and search and seizure operations. However, posts recruiting travel products scheduled to depart in the future are still visible on its online cafe, raising concerns about additional consumer damage from mistaking them for operating normally.
The Korea National Council of Consumer Organizations advised, "Please be cautious not to make new reservations or contracts for Andersen travel products," adding, "Consumers who have already contracted should stop making additional payments and keep supporting materials such as contracts and payment details to use for future refund claims."
