▲ National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and Cause of Death Statistics Linked Data
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) announced today (August 10) that it will release the linked data between the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007–2021) and the Cause of Death Statistics (2024) on its website.
The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey is a nationally approved statistic conducted to assess the health behaviors, nutrition, and chronic disease status of South Koreans.
The data released this time was compiled by linking the raw data from the 2007–2021 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey with the 2024 Cause of Death Statistics from the National Data Agency, and can be used for various studies, such as analyzing the relationship between individual health behaviors, disease states, and mortality.
The subjects of the linkage are 89,560 adults aged 19 and older who agreed to the linkage of the Cause of Death Statistics among the participants of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, with a linkage rate of 97.6% (87,432 people).
The data includes a total of 7,955 deceased individuals. By cause of death, deaths due to neoplasms (cancer) were the highest at 29.6% (2,355 people), followed by circulatory system diseases at 20.7% (1,645 people), and respiratory system diseases at 12.8% (1,018 people).
The linked data can be requested on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey website and will be provided after research review by the KDCA and the National Data Agency.
