The fourth regional primary for the Democratic Party to elect its next leadership is taking place in Gangwon Province and Daegu-North Gyeongsang Province. Following candidate Kim Min-seok taking first place in Jeju and Incheon yesterday (the 8th), attention is focused on what results will come out today.

The Democratic Party continues its regional primary schedule in Gangwon and Daegu-North Gyeongsang today.
The party leader and Supreme Council candidates visited the Hoengseong National Sports Center in Gangwon Province in the morning to deliver joint speeches and appeal to the party members.
[Kim Min-seok/Democratic Party Leadership Candidate: The victory in Gangneung will symbolize a victory in a difficult district. There will be no loss of a region due to a slip of the tongue, and no region will be missed because the central party failed to determine its stance.]
[Chung Cheong-rae/Democratic Party Leadership Candidate: Do your best and leave the rest to heaven; until the election is over, no one knows who will win. Acting as if one is already the party leader and promising this party position to one person and that position to another—is that how things should be done?]
[Song Young-gil/Democratic Party Leadership Candidate: (Some people) promote Gangwon Province's victory as a victory for party leader candidate Chung Cheong-rae, but I think that is not right. Running the Democratic Party with this kind of mindset will not make winning the general election easy.]
Although Gangwon and Daegu-North Gyeongsang have relatively small numbers of registered party members for the Democratic Party, Daegu-North Gyeongsang is designated as a strategic region by the party and carries a 5% weight, which is expected to influence the overall race.
In the registered party member voting for the Democratic Party's Jeju and Incheon regional primaries announced yesterday, party leader candidate Kim Min-seok ranked first with 47.75% of the vote.
Candidate Chung Cheong-rae placed second with 42.08%, and candidate Song Young-gil came in third with 10.17%.
Based on the cumulative vote percentages from the regional primaries up to yesterday, candidate Kim Min-seok has surpassed candidate Chung Cheong-rae to rise to first place.
The Democratic Party is scheduled to hold a joint speech event in Daegu starting at 4 PM today, and the results of the registered party member voting for both the Gangwon and Daegu-North Gyeongsang regions will be tallied and announced this evening.
