US President Donald Trump has stated that the war with Iran will end soon.
Speaking to reporters during an executive order signing ceremony at the White House on the 6th local time, President Trump expressed optimism about falling oil prices, saying, "Those days will be back very soon. As soon as the war is over. And I see it ending soon. I don't think it can last long."
President Trump added, "We are doing very well. I am involved in negotiations and we are doing well. It could happen sooner rather than later."
President Trump did not elaborate on the status of negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
This appears to be an effort to project an optimistic outlook on ending the war to appease public opinion soured by the protracted conflict.
President Trump emphasized on the day, "We have very powerful ammunition and practically unlimited supplies," adding, "We literally have massive amounts of ammunition."
This was a rebuttal to reports that the US military's inventory of interceptor missiles has been rapidly depleted during the course of the war with Iran, prompting internal warnings among military leadership that stock levels have reached a dangerous threshold.
