While heavy heatwave warnings remain in effect for most of the Seoul metropolitan area, temperatures in Seoul are expected to soar up to 39°C today (August 6). The scorching heat is forecast to continue at this level through tomorrow. Weathercaster Park Se-rim has the details.

Today and tomorrow will mark the peak of this current heatwave.
Heatwave warnings are in effect nationwide, with heavy heatwave warnings centered around the metropolitan area. Today, daytime temperatures in Seoul are projected to surge up to 39°C.
This unprecedented extreme heat is expected to continue through tomorrow, before easing slightly over the weekend with daytime highs hovering around the 36°C mark.
Looking at specific daytime highs, Chuncheon and Jeonju will reach 38°C, while Daegu will see 36°C.
Sweltering conditions continue even during the morning hours.
Currently, Seoul stands at 29.1°C, experiencing levels akin to a super-tropical night.
Until this morning, 5 to 40 mm of showers are expected in northwestern North Jeolla Province, while light rain will continue in Jeju until the morning before stopping.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Dolphin, the 13th typhoon, is moving westward over the waters east of Okinawa, Japan, and is expected to make landfall south of Shanghai, China, early next week.
It is not expected to have a direct impact on South Korea.
However, we need to monitor it further to see what variables it might introduce.
Rain is forecast for this weekend, mainly centered around the east coast and Jeju.
In particular, heavy and intense rain is expected along the east coast on Saturday.
