Kim Jin-joo (pseudonym), the victim of the "Busan roundhouse kick" incident, has accepted an apology from People Power Party lawmaker Seo Bum-soo, who sparked controversy with inappropriate remarks during a National Assembly meeting regarding the abolition of supplementary investigation powers.
Today (the 5th), Kim contacted Seo directly, saying, "I understand it was right before the discussion started, and it's truly okay," accepting his apology.
Kim added, "What I want even less is for the discussion [on the abolition of supplementary investigation powers] to be buried by this controversy," and urged him to "please make sure the content of the discussion is well-communicated to the public."
In response, lawmaker Seo reportedly conveyed his apologies repeatedly to Kim.
Previously, yesterday, before the meeting attended by the victim began, lawmaker Seo spoke to lawmaker Jin Jong-o sitting opposite him, saying, "Let's do a roundhouse kick," and Jin also responded in a way that implied he uses his hands better than his feet, drawing fierce criticism.
After their lighthearted banter caused a stir, the lawmakers posted public apologies to the victim via social media shortly afterward.
