Joint camps for the Dream Art Troupe, a Korean model developed from Venezuela's free music education program El Sistema, will be held in Pyeongchang and Miryang.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Council (Korea Arts & Culture Education Service) announced that they will host the "2026 Dream Art Troupe Joint Camp - Dream Festival" at Alpensia in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, from today (August 5) to August 7, and at the Arirang Art Center in Miryang, South Gyeongsang Province, from August 12 to August 14.
Now in its third year, the Dream Festival focuses on strengthening the professionalism of arts education through genre-specific operations such as orchestras, dance troupes, and theater companies.
The Pyeongchang camp, running from today through August 7, will feature about 800 children and youth members from 5 Dream Orchestra and 13 Dream Dance Troupe locations, who will hold a joint performance on the evening of August 6.
Lee Sun-chul, CEO of Potato Flower Studio, will serve as general director, and Jung Min-kyung, CEO of Classics, will serve as artistic director to lead the overall camp.
The Miryang camp, running from August 12 to August 14, will involve about 150 participants from 3 Dream Theater Company locations.
Actor Oh Man-seok, a professor at the Korea National University of Arts, will serve as the general director, presenting a joint performance titled "The Legend Children Who Became Taegeuk Butterflies," based on Miryang's folklore.
Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Choi Hui-young stated, "Arts activities during childhood and adolescence are a precious opportunity to build confidence and self-esteem while realizing the meaning of cooperation and consideration," adding, "We will continue to steadily expand hubs so that more children can experience the Dream Art Troupe and support regional art troupes in growing stably."
