Rumors regarding school bullying involving Rescene member Woni (22, real name Jung Won-i) were settled as a mere haptictic incident within a day.
It was neither the person who raised the allegations nor her agency, but her former homeroom teacher from her alma mater, who stepped forward to clear up the sudden suspicion.
On August 1, a netizen posted an online community claim exposing Woni's behavior during her middle school years, mentioning inappropriate school life, personal life, and remarks.
Although it was an anonymous exposure with no evidence provided to support the claims, it quickly spread into suspicions of "school violence" and "school bullying."
These suspicions were put to rest when Person A, who served as Woni's homeroom teacher in her second and third years of middle school, stepped forward.
On August 2, Person A opened an X account under the handle "wonidamim" and stated, "If there was any wrongdoing by Woni during her student days, it is my responsibility for failing to guide her properly."
A continued, "I hope you will stop reckless criticism driven by groundless claims."
Refuting the netizen's claims, Person A presented evidence such as Woni's graduation album, photos taken with friends, and a letter Woni had written and given directly to the teacher.
A also released text messages exchanged with other teachers who taught Woni at the time, stating that Woni was a diligent student who served as a member of the school student council and actively participated in school violence prevention campaigns.
After the homeroom teacher's clear testimony emerged, heavy criticism poured out against the raising of groundless suspicions.
Consequently, the netizen deleted the related posts and disappeared.
Person A, who defused Woni's school bullying rumors into a groundless incident, announced their departure on August 2 through the X account, stating, "Now that the matter seems to be resolved, I will be deleting this account."
A added, "Thank you for your support. Please continue to look upon Woni with fondness."
Through a long post, Person A expressed regret, saying, "Unlike the textbook explanation that communication has become possible anytime and anywhere due to the development of social media, today's era actually seems to lack communication and overflow with one-way statements, causing understanding and consideration to disappear."
