South Korean national football team defender Lee Han-beom has left Denmark's FC Midtjylland to join the prestigious Belgian club Club Brugge.
Club Brugge announced that it has signed a three-year contract with Lee through 2029.
His uniform number is 3.
According to the Danish media outlet Tipsbladet, the transfer fee received by Midtjylland is 10.5 million euros, which translates to approximately 17.4 billion won.
This amount is seven times the 1.5 million euro transfer fee generated when Lee transferred from K League 1 side FC Seoul to Midtjylland.
Club Brugge is a traditional powerhouse that has claimed the Belgian league title 20 times, including last season.
It ranks second in all-time league championships following Anderlecht, which has 34 titles.
Korean players such as Seol Ki-hyeon, Hong Hyun-seok, and Oh Hyeon-gyu have previously passed through the Belgian league before advancing to bigger stages.
Lee became a European-based player in August 2023 when he left Seoul and joined Midtjylland.
Although he struggled to adapt in his first season after appearing in only two matches, he established himself as a starting defender last season, contributing to both the league championship and the Danish Cup victory.
In particular, he delivered a decisive performance in the Danish Cup final against Copenhagen by scoring a late header that secured a 1–0 victory for his team.
During his three seasons with Midtjylland, Lee made 67 appearances and scored 3 goals.
Lee played every minute of South Korea's three group-stage matches at the 2026 North and Central America World Cup.
