People Power Party Leader Chang Dong-hyeok launched a scathing attack on the government's tax reform plan immediately after its announcement, calling it "tax extortion that takes back the money it handed out."
Leader Chang wrote on his social media today, "Citizens are burning up from the heat wave, and the first thing President Lee Jae-myung throws at us right after returning from his overseas trip is a tax bomb."
He continued, "The government glibly calls it 'tax reform for fair taxation,' but the reality is tax extortion that takes back the money it handed out."
Chang pointed out, "Raising property holding taxes is somewhat expected given what they've previously said, but abolishing tax credits for tackling low birth rates, cutting support for eco-friendly vehicles, and raising the barriers to family business succession directly and repeatedly clash with the government's own policies."
He added, "Along with the Democratic Party, leveraged ETFs, consecutive-term constitutional amendments, and the abolition of supplementary investigation rights, is tax the only thing making the public's blood boil?"
Sarcastic about the property tax revisions, Chang said, "Property tax reform is about normalizing transactions? The day the public normalizes the Lee Jae-myung administration is not far off." He quipped, "This is true 'administration reform for fair state affairs.'"
