Charlize Theron Falls for Korea: "Visited Informally with My Daughter Earlier This Year, Made Korean Friends"

Hollywood star Charlize Theron drew attention by expressing her exceptional affection and fondness for South Korea.

Attending a press conference for her film "Odyssey" held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, on the morning of the 3rd, Theron shared that although this is her official visit, she had already visited Korea once earlier this year.

Theron began by saying, "Actually, I came to Korea a few months ago to travel with my 10-year-old daughter. I love Korean culture so much, and I even made some Korean friends back then. I'm so happy to return with a movie."

Recalling her visit earlier this year, she said, "Back then, my daughter and I walked around all day. I ate Korean food with my Korean friend. I also experienced Korea's famous skincare cosmetics. Korean technology is the best."

Theron added, "I told a friend that the energy shifts the moment you arrive in Korea. Seoul is a beautiful place rich in culture. You can feel it the second you step off the plane. This time, I came for film promotions and have a busy schedule so I won't be able to experience everything, but I will enjoy it as much as I can before I leave."

Theron's visit to Korea earlier this year became known through social media and other channels. At the time, she drew attention by participating in a cooking class with her daughter where they made gimbap and tteokbokki.

In her new film "Odyssey," Theron plays the sea goddess Calypso. Marking her first time working with Director Nolan, Theron expressed unceasing admiration for the master's unique working method, saying, "The director is consistent. It was my first time working with him, and since I joined in the latter half, I was quite nervous. What moved me was how the director creates such an intimate atmosphere on set. It felt like shooting an independent film. Given the grand scale, I never imagined we would work in such a friendly environment."

"Odyssey" depicts the events that unfold as Odysseus (Matt Damon), the hero who led the 10-year Trojan War to victory, embarks on a journey to return home to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland), who are waiting for him while taking advantage of the king's absence. It is set to be released domestically on the 5th.
