A man has been arrested by police for fatally stabbing a fellow patient in the same nursing hospital room because he was being noisy.
The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced today (August 1) that it has arrested a man in his 70s, identified as A, in the act on murder charges and is currently investigating him.
A is accused of stabbing B, another hospitalized patient in his 70s who shared the same room, multiple times with a weapon at around 6:40 PM today in a hospital room at a nursing hospital in Sinan-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju.
Investigations showed that A committed the crime following a dispute after complaining that B was making noise while going about his daily life.
B, who suffered severe injuries to his neck, was transported to a hospital by emergency authorities responding to a report from a hospital staff member, but ultimately died.
A reportedly stated during police questioning that there had been ongoing friction because B habitually made noise when opening and closing the wardrobe.
The room shared by A and B was a three-person ward, and it was confirmed that other patients were present at the time of the crime.
Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A after investigating the exact circumstances with A and witnesses.
