LA FC's Son Heung-min, starting as captain in his first-ever All-Star appearance, scored two quick goals in the span of three minutes. He was also named the MVP, shining the brightest among the stars.

As the biggest star of the All-Star event, Son drew attention wherever he went and even shared some witty banter before the match with German legend Thomas Müller, his new teammate for the day.
[Thomas Müller / Vancouver (MLS All-Star) : (Thomas, you once suffered a defeat against Son Heung-min in a head-to-head match, right? Do you remember which game it was?) Unfortunately, I do remember. (Which game was it?) It was the World Cup (in 2018).]
[Son Heung-min / LA FC (MLS All-Star) : (Son must remember that win against Germany vividly, right?) Of course, I remember it vividly. It must be one of the 'best moments' of my World Cup matches.]
[Thomas Müller / Vancouver (MLS All-Star) : (You face each other again in a league match in a few days.) I hope that single time was the only time Son beats me throughout my career.]

After enjoying the lighthearted chat with Müller, Son wore a jersey featuring a Taegeukgi patch on his chest and started as captain for the MLS All-Star team. He scored the equalizer in the 20th minute of the first half, bringing his team back from a 1-0 deficit against the Liga MX All-Stars.

Son netted the go-ahead goal just three minutes later.
He sent the fans into a frenzy with a fantastic volley inside the penalty box.
Having secured a multi-goal performance, Son was substituted off during the hydration break in the 35th minute of the first half.

The MLS team won the match 4-3, and Son claimed the MVP honors in his very first All-Star appearance.

Having thoroughly enjoyed the festival of stars, Son will now aim for his fourth consecutive league match with a goal this coming Sunday against Vancouver, led by Müller.
