The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on the 30th, local time, that it attacked the U.S. Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (known locally as Azraq Air Base) in Jordan in retaliation for U.S. strikes, destroying three F-35 fighter jets and inflicting casualties on multiple U.S. service members.
In a statement that day, the IRGC said, "This morning, we targeted the parking aprons and maintenance hangars housing U.S. F-35 fighter jets at the Azraq Air Base using multiple ballistic missiles," adding, "This attack completely destroyed three F-35 fighter jets and caused severe damage to three others," according to Russia's RIA Novosti news agency, which cited Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.
Earlier, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the resumption of airstrikes against Iran the previous day after a six-day pause, stating that the strikes targeted Iranian military command facilities, missile and drone infrastructure, and naval assets.
In response, the IRGC warned that "the aggressors will be punished today," announcing plans to retaliate against U.S. facilities in the Middle East.
The U.S. military has not yet released an official statement regarding the IRGC's attack that day.
