Police in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, have launched investigations following a series of reports regarding suspected drug use over a two-day period.
The Suwon Paldal Police Station announced that it has booked a woman in her 20s, surnamed A, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Woman A is suspected of wandering around the Rodeo Street in front of Suwon Station while under the influence of drugs at around 9:20 a.m. yesterday (July 29).
Police dispatched after receiving reports from residents conducted a quick drug test on Woman A, which tested positive for philopon (methamphetamine).
Woman A admitted to using philopon, and no illegal substances were found in her possession at the time.
Considering her health condition, police handed her over to her family for protective hospitalization while investigating whether she used other types of drugs.
At around 2:40 a.m. today, another emergency 112 report was filed by a resident in Ingye-dong, Paldal-gu, Suwon, stating, "It looks like two women have taken drugs."
Police found two women in her 20s suspected of drug use in front of an officetel and accompanied them to a neighborhood police substation on a voluntary basis.
A quick test showed that one tested positive for philopon, while the other tested negative.
The woman who tested positive denied taking philopon, and police have requested a detailed analysis from the National Forensic Service.
Police plan to decide whether to formally book the suspects once the test results are available.
