The Iranian military has warned that it will completely block the passage through the Strait of Hormuz for any countries and companies that echo U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement to compensate ships damaged in the Strait of Hormuz using frozen Iranian assets.
In a statement issued on the 28th (local time), a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, which exercises joint command over the Iranian military, said, "We warn all companies and countries that acquire frozen Iranian assets under the pretext of the U.S. President's proposal," adding, "Moving forward, the Iranian military will not permit any vessels belonging to them to pass through the Strait of Hormuz."
"The United States is attempting to compensate for vessel damages caused by its illegal encroachment on routes and instigation of instability in the southern Strait of Hormuz using our frozen assets," the spokesperson criticized.
The spokesperson raised their voice, stating, "This is an aggressive and illegal measure aimed at instigating instability in the region."
Previously, President Trump wrote on Truth Social on the 23rd, "Please let this statement serve that, effective immediately and until further notice, any damage sustained to ships, cargo, or anything related thereto, will be compensated for out of Iranian funds currently held and controlled by the United States."
