A probationary police officer with less than a year on the job has been suspended after being caught up in a game item trading scam.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit of the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency announced today (July 28) that it has booked Officer A without detention on charges of aiding and abetting fraud.
Officer A is accused of leasing a game item trading site account opened earlier this year—after being appointed as a police officer—to the main perpetrator of the fraud, and participating in the crime by transferring the victim funds.
Investigations revealed that four victims suffered approximately 9.6 million won in damages from the incident.
Officer A is a probationary police officer who has served for less than a year since appointment, and the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency decided to suspend Officer A yesterday.
A police official stated, "We plan to determine further disciplinary action based on the future investigation results," adding, "As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot disclose detailed information."
