Samsung's Miyaji, Hit by First-Pitch Hit-by-Pitch, and Kiwoom's Hiura, Shoulder Injury, Deregistered from First-Team Roster

Professional baseball club Samsung Lions deregistered Asian quarter pitcher Miyaji Yura from the first-team roster on July 27.

Miyaji took the mound in the 8th inning during the game against the Doosan Bears in Jamsil on July 26, allowed a first-pitch hit-by-pitch to leadoff hitter Kang Seung-ho, and immediately stepped off the mound.

This season, he has recorded 1 loss, 3 holds, and a 5.87 ERA across 36 games.

He has shown poor control, allowing 23 walks and 7 hit-by-pitches in 30 innings.

Having spent a period of readjustment in the Futures (second) league last month, he has once again been deregistered from the first team, casting uncertainty over his future in the KBO League.

Kiwoom Heroes foreign batter Keston Hiura was also ultimately dropped from the first-team roster due to a shoulder injury.

Hiura started as the left fielder in the game against the Samsung Lions in Gocheok on July 23 and prevented runs with a stellar defensive play crashing into the fence in the top of the 10th inning, but has been suffering from shoulder pain since then.

League-last Kiwoom has seen ace Raul Alcantara and closer Yuto Kanakubo depart due to injuries, followed by Hiura, who had been performing as a key hitter.

In addition, pitcher Choi Ji-myung (LG Twins), pitcher Lee Gyo-hoon, infielder Hwang Young-mook (both Hanwha Eagles), pitcher Kim Tae-kyung, infielder Han Jae-hwan (both NC Dinos), infielder Lee Ho-jun (Lotte Giants), and infielder Choi Jae-young (Kiwoom) were deregistered from the first team on Monday, a day without baseball games.
